God’s Pictures for the MRI Tech ~ by Julie Earl

MRI_scanner[1]I was lying inside the MRI tube with my right arm above my head where I would soon find I had torn my tendon in my right elbow. As I tried to be still, I began praying for the lady who was doing the test. “God, you really love her and you want her to encounter you even more than I want her to encounter you, so please speak through me. I feel like I’ve given more wimpy words lately that are easy, but I want to again take a risk and trust that you will speak to my thoughts and give me more specific things.”

After a few minutes, I saw in my mind’s eye a simple picture of her as a little girl kneeling on a skateboard and pushing herself around. As she was on the skateboard, I saw her talking with Jesus and enjoying His love for her. I didn’t think she actually skateboarded herself, but this is what I saw. I also had the thought that she had a pretty good relationship with her mom, but her dad was absent while she was growing up. I continued to pray for her and others as I endured the banging of the MRI.

When we finished, I said to her, “I was praying God’s blessings over you while I was in there, and I saw a picture in my mind’s eye of you kneeling on a skateboard when you were little. You were talking with Jesus while you rolled around.

“Wow, I did kneel on my brother’s skateboard and roll around a lot when I was little!” She told me a little more about that. “I was also the one who initiated a relationship with God when I was little. My parents didn’t go to church, but they took me to church when I asked. I did talk with Him as a child.”

“I also sensed that you had a pretty good relationship with your mom, but that your dad was an absent father.”

“Yes, my dad traveled all the time, and is even on a trip for work right now. He wasn’t around much. It is interesting that you brought all this up, because I haven’t been close to God in a long time, and some other people from work are trying to get closer to the Lord and they have been sharing with me.”

I was able to encourage her some more and gave her my contact information. People rarely reach out to me, but I like to give them the opportunity if they have a peace about it. I prayed for her before I left, and she seemed touched by the Father’s love. I know she is the apple of His eye.

While she was taking pictures of my arm, the Holy Spirit was revealing pictures from her life to show her how important she is to Him. He is so good!
