Day 14 – God Will Love You Forever – Even if You Choose to Spend Eternity Without Him – Julie Earl
Romans 5:7-8
“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God is constantly demonstrating His love for us. He sent Jesus (who is God with skin) to show us how to walk in authority and victory on the earth, and then to die in our place. Even when we were enemies of God, verse 10 says we were “reconciled to him through the death of his Son.” God made a way for us to be friends with the God of the universe – with Himself.
When we understand how loved we are by God, it’s hard to stay silent. My book No More No has a chapter called “Fall in Love with Jesus” and a chapter called “Fall in Love with People.” When we understand how very loved we are by God, and when we take practical steps to fall in love with people, we will no longer care about man’s opinion of us. All that will matter is loving God and others by expressing God’s heart of love and truth.
Here is an excerpt from Chapter 11 of No More No titled “Fall in Love with People”:
They [people] need to know they are loved beyond measure, and that no matter how far they run or how many bad things they do, nothing “will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
God will love them for eternity—even if He doesn’t get to spend eternity with them. Even if a person doesn’t humble their heart, admit they need Jesus’ forgiveness, and believe that Jesus is Lord—God will still love them. “I have loved you with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3). Once they die, they will be outside the influence of God’s love, and no longer able to experience His love, but that doesn’t mean God will stop feeling intense love for them.
Understanding this concept helps us understand the passage in 2 Timothy 2:11-13:
Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will also reign with Him. If we disown Him, He will also disown us; if we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.
If a person disowns God, rejecting God’s offer to be His child through Jesus’ forgiveness, then God will disown that person. They won’t be His child and won’t spend eternity with Him.
But…even if that person disowns God and has no faith in who God says He is, and they are completely faithless, God will still be faithful to love them for eternity—because LOVE is who God is. He can’t disown Himself because He can’t disown love. Even if someone is completely devoid of faith and trust in God, God will remain faithful to love them forever.
I can’t begin to imagine the intensity of such love.
I always thought God’s love for people in hell would cease once they were outside the influence of His love. But, no, His love is truly everlasting.
With such unfathomable love for each of us, can you imagine the depth of God’s pain when even one person rejects Him and His offer to be saved from the penalty of sin? When even one person spends eternity without Him in “the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels”? (Matthew 25:41).
The magnitude of God’s love is hitting me as never before, and I can’t stop weeping. I’ve been weeping for over an hour. A heart-wrenching, deep cry from my spirit that won’t stop.
I’m weeping for those who reject God and will spend their lives and eternity without Him….
I’m weeping for God’s indescribable pain in losing even one of His beloved creation….
I’m weeping for the body of Christ because we must wake up and express God’s incredible love and truth to our world.
How Much Do You Love?
Given the intensity of God’s never-ending love for every individual, please ask yourself, How much do I truly love God and care about His heart? Do I care that His heart will ache for eternity over each person who rejects Him?
How much do I truly love people? Do I care that without Jesus’ forgiveness they will spend eternity in hell in eternal torment apart from any influence or effect of God’s love?
I’m positive you care deeply because you’re reading this book.
Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24). Because God’s power is in you, you can choose to:
- Love people no matter the cost.
- Listen expectantly to the Holy Spirit.
- Say yes and share God’s words and love gifts.
Conclusion: We are the body of Christ – His hands, His feet, His mouth, His arms of love. When we say yes to His promptings, He is able to demonstrate His love through us. Have fun being Jesus to your world today!
You are loved beyond measure!
