We can pierce the darkness with God’s light!
Yesterday I had just paid my car registration and the Lord highlighted a man standing in line for a title. I walked over to him and said, “This may sound a little strange, but God just impressed upon my heart how much He loves you. You are incredibly important to Him.” I shared several more words of love.
“Wow! Thank you,” he said with a big smile.
“I see the Lord drawing you closer and closer to His heart and giving you wisdom. I don’t know if you have a relationship with Him yet?”
“Yes, I do,” he said. And he told me a little more about that.
I had an impression of him working with young people, so I took the risk and asked. “Do you work with young people in some way?”
“Well, not officially, but there is a young woman I have been working with and it has been really draining and hard on me.” He told me a few sentences of what was going on.
Bingo. Here was what God wanted to give wisdom and encourage him in. I continued to open my mouth trusting God would fill it. Typically I would have thought God would want to encourage him to hang in there, but that wasn’t what came out. “God gives us joy, grace and peace when He calls us to do something, so if you aren’t feeling that any longer, it may be time to step away from this friend and let God use someone else or some other means to help her.”
His eyes lit up like I had thrown him a lifeline. “Really?” he asked with excitement.
“Yes, God will show you when it’s time to say no to this gal. Saying no is just as spiritual as saying yes when you are following God’s leading.”
It was his turn in the line, so he thanked me again and we said our goodbyes. It was simply being tuned in to God’s voice and trusting His ability to speak through me that allowed this young man to feel the Lord’s love and hear His wisdom for what had been a painful situation!
