Ruth’s Tumor Vanishes ~ by Ron Sutton
Ruth was a frequent customer of the music store I managed. She loved music and guitars, and would make the rounds every few months to the different music stores in the area to see what new guitars they might have. Ruth lived in our little town and would frequent our shop at least every few weeks, so we became good friends. Many of our conversations would revolve around the Lord and experiences she had with the different folks she had met during her day-to-day life. She never met a stranger, and would often tell them some of the impressions and words she felt the Lord was giving her for them. I had fun watching her use this gift when folks would come into the store. She was so accurate that people would ask if she was a psychic. She would say, “No, I am not. This is just a gift God has given me to bless others.” Besides that gift, she was also very generous and would often buy guitars to give to musicians who were down and out.
One day Ruth came into the store with a friend of hers, and Ruth started picking up guitars and playing them as usual. I started in with small talk, like I always do. Her friend told me that she was tagging along with Ruth so that she could make sure Ruth made it to her doctor’s appointment. She went on to tell me that Ruth was having another CAT scan done because they had found a rather large tumor on a previous scan.
My prayer radar kicked in, and I knew what I was going to do before they left the store. Ruth would never talk about anything she might have going on when she would come in, so I had no idea what the issue was. The doctor had wanted to set up surgery, but Ruth told him that she believed in healing, and wanted to get prayer. She asked the doctor if he would rescan her after she got prayer. He said he normally wouldn’t, but since he knew her, he would. Ruth is Catholic and had her priest pray for her the past Sunday.
I told her, “Before you go, I want to pray for you.” She agreed, and I laid my hand on her shoulder and prayed. I had learned that every time Jesus would minister healing to a person, that He would speak specifically to the problem…see, hear, rise up, walk, so I had started doing the same thing. I spoke to the tumor in the name of Jesus and commanded it to leave her body. I prayed peace over her, and they left for her appointment.
A few days later she came into the store and told me the news. She said the doctor did the scan and didn’t see anything. He couldn’t believe the tumor wasn’t there because it was a large tumor, and they don’t just disappear like that. He then did a sonogram to see if that would show the tumor. As he viewed the sonogram again, he looked completely perplexed.
Ruth asked him, “It’s not there, is it?” He told her that he didn’t understand it, but, no, it wasn’t. It was gone!
