The Holy Spirit Helps the Help ~ by Julie Earl
While we were in the hospital yesterday trying to figure out some health issues for my husband, a sweet gal came in to clean the room. As I was silently praying for her, the thought came to mind that she needed to hear how important she was.
“I was praying that God would bless you,” I said, “when I felt the Lord wanted to remind you how important you are to Him. You are His treasure and He is with you in all you are going through.”
Her eyes filled with tears and she smiled. “Thank you! That means so much to me.”
We chatted a few more moments about God’s love for her, and then I asked, “Is there something in particular I can pray about for you as you come to mind?”
“Oh, yes. I have been feeling light-headed all day and woozy, and I am pregnant. I have an appointment with my doctor this afternoon.”
“How wonderful you are pregnant! Can I pray for you right now?” She gladly agreed, so I prayed for her healing and for her baby, whom she told us later was a miracle story in itself.
The Holy Spirit, God’s Spirit, is referred to as our Helper. Isn’t it awesome that if we just tune in and ask Him how He wants to work and move, that He is able to help those who are there to help us!
Many blessings as you express God’s heart of love!
