Day 5 – Who is Your Go-To Person? ~ Julie Earl
Galatians 1:16-20
16b my immediate response was not to consult any human being. 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus. 18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days. 19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. Julie’s Nugget
I love how Paul didn’t run to his best friend, his family or his barber when he had an encounter with God. He ran directly to God Himself – for three years. He soaked lots of Jesus before he took what he discovered to the world.
For many years that wasn’t my response. When I had something big or exciting happen; when I was worried or needed advice for an issue I often ran first to family and friends. I have since learned to turn my heart immediately to Jesus and let Him rejoice with me, weep with me, console me or guide me with His wisdom. As wonderful as family and friends are, they don’t have the ability to pierce my heart with their love, comfort and grace as Jesus can. He alone can meet our every need!
To Ponder
There is no detail too large or too small that Jesus doesn’t want to meet you in the midst of. Our daughter, Richelle, was wanting to get a “new” used couch from Craig’s List, and she missed out on what seemed like the perfect couch because she wasn’t fast enough in calling. She was really disappointed, but I was able to remind her that God cares about her couch, and he wants her to enjoy her furniture because He is that kind of Daddy. We thanked Him in advance for the perfect couch and trusted Him to work it out.
Two days later her perfect couch did show up on Craig’s List, and I helped her go get it. She loves the couch and we were also able to share Jesus’ love and pray with the lady who sold us the couch. Because Richelle was trusting the Lord and allowing Him to lead her, she got blessed and a nonbeliever experienced the love of the Father! He is definitely an awesome Go-To Person! He loves to be involved in every detail or our lives.
Many blessings!
