A Breath of Fresh Air ~ by Julie Earl
After dropping my son, Dane’s, power cord off at the college fitness center where he works, the Lord highlighted a young woman sitting outside on a bench. I almost ignored the prompting, but knew that would be a mistake, so I re-parked and walked over to her.
“Hi! God just highlighted you with His love!” I then shared what came to mind. “I feel like He wants you to know that you are a breath of fresh air wherever you go and that the atmosphere changes when you enter a room.”
Her face lit up with a huge smile and she giggled with delight.
“Does that make sense?” I asked.
“Yes, it does,” she said.
“Do you have a relationship with the Lord yet?” I asked.
“Yes, I am Catholic, but we believe the same as Christians.”
Just to be safe, I shared a two-minute version of my journey to Jesus and leaving religion to come into a relationship, and what a difference He has made in my life. Then I shared some more exciting things I felt God had for her, then told her about our church and the amazing young adults who attend.
After telling her about Dane, I invited her to go into the college to meet him since her ride wasn’t there yet.
As Dane chatted, he got the word that her younger brother was struggling, but that her love was going to help him as she did loving things for him.
“How old is your brother?” I asked.
Dane piped up, “14?”
“Yes!” she said.
“I don’t always get it right,” he said, “but I like to try to hear from the Lord on details.”
After a little more discussion about church and all God has for her, I asked if we could pray, and she gladly agreed. As we prayed, I sensed her mom needed hope in regard to finances and life in general, so I prayed for her mom as well. When we finished praying and were walking back out, she said that her mom was in fact struggling.
How God loves this precious family and wants to hold them even tighter in His arms of love! I’m so glad I didn’t ignore the faint thought to express God’s heart of love to this amazing young woman. What a joy for me and for her!
